Applying Groove Bone [Sadistic Love] by AddestorionVayanis Applying Groove Bone [Sadistic Love] by AddestorionVayanis
Pretty sure there are many others around

I found a lovely Sadistic Love motion data by あひる@anatroccolo www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm17721… but i found out that most of models behaved weird. So this is a personal reminder of what to do when i encounter a groove bone related problem.

Groove bone - グルーブ
Note: depending on the motion, it has to be EXACTLY that text. the google translate version gives グルーヴ, but its not the same, so it will not work. Different models have slightly different spelling, so you have to find the exact spelling in the .vmd file

But now it works for me.

Testing was done on a Ula Kagamine Rin White2 type, although i edited most of the models i have to be compatible with it.

Testing on MMDAgent.

This isn't working for any of my models that don't have groove bones. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. ;n;

do they have a master bone?

if they do, you will need to connect it so that it becomes
Master >> center >> groove

in this case, just add a connecting bone from the master bone, and rename it center, while your rename your center bone as the groove bone

you do need to specify which model that youre using so that i can check if the model has anything unusual that may affect the groove bone position.

Well... I am using the Young Adult Dancer Len Kagamine, and the Aratana Len Model.

Those two are mainly the models I use. :)

the original model, the Akatonbo Rin Kagamine model was compared to the Aratana Len model.
There are a few differences, in that the groove bone is after the center bone, and not before.  This differs from the steps above.  But i have identified how to make it work.

The model needs the following, in this order

Parent master bone (0,0,0)
Center (0,8,0)
Groove (0,7,0) - previous center bone

Use the 'add master bone' function to start off.
Rightclick the add master bone, and add a connect bone (Ctrl+L)
change its name to a center bone (change the coordinates to 0,8,0)
change the old center bone to groove bone
change the coordinates to 0,7,0

ensure that all the bones are connected in that order.

what's a groove bone? :)

its an additional bone, usually added before or after the center bone.  Some new motions make use of it, so if your model doesnt have a groove bone, your motion is going to come out weird.

sadistic love's readme gave me the hint i needed to figure this out.  Otherwise, certain motions will look weird.

Even on the longer version of tell your world, groove bones are used.  The previous tutorials didnt help me much...

usually the motions come with a readme.  I figured this out while reading the readme to sadistic love and found out that there was a nonstandard bone.  I then proceeded to work with whatever info i had from the google translate that i had

you will have slightly more problems if the model had a master bone as well.

In which case, i suggest deleting the master bone.

Ok I did this, but the feet twist around and are all ffffff ;A; why is this?
Reply
:iconaddestorionvayanis:
AddestorionVayanis Featured By Owner Feb 16, 2013
the most common reason is because there is a parent master bone. The feet are assuming the parent master bone is origin coordinate, but is now being messed up by the new groove bone added.

Which model are you using this on? i can run a check to recommend a solution.

ok I did that, and at the beginning of my motion the legs were fine, but once he started moving his legs went off some other direction. And if it helps any, I'm trying to do this for the Daft Punk Harder, Better, Faster motion

links to motion. i want to see if the naming of the bones affect anything.

it happens sometimes. Even with this groove bone, i found that some modelmakers spell it differently, which does cause it to not register as a groove bone.

take note though that for sadistic love, it requires models with an upper chest bone for it to work fine. Most miku LAT models only come with one chest bone, but the ULA LAT rin models usually come with the two chest bones needed to make it work fine.

Thanks, I'll see how to add the upper bone thing :meow:

you can just add a bone from the lower bone to the head, but you'll need to weigh the vertexes from her upper body accordingly. Shouldnt be too hard if you just refer to a ULA rin kagamine model. thats what i did anyway

This was very helpful and it works!
The only problem I have is that when I do this, the physics on the model mess up!
Is there anyway to solve this problem?

Hetalia England model.

As soon as the bones are renamed and added, the physics on the bottom his shirt seem to flick outwards.

ahh. it has a parent master bone.

anyway i checked and edited it. it works fine on my end.

take note of these things though:

create a add connect bone based off center (+center)
rename center bone to groove bone
rename the +center to center

now these may be the parts which may be causing it

the new center bone's parent bone is the master bone, and the child is center end (on my end, its bone 79)
the new groove bone's parent bone is the new center bone, and the child is center end (also bone 79)
the master bone's child is set to the new center bone.

i did all of this, and it seems to work
